This week, I focused on finishing the second half of the rocker bogie suspension system. After establishing the differential interface last week, I went on to complete the second rocker connection as well as the bogie pivot point, a critical joint that allows the rover to maintain stability across uneven terrain.
I also modeled the bogie arms and their connections to the wheels, ensuring everything lines up properly and rotates with the intended degrees of freedom. These bogie connections are crucial for maintaining ground contact across all wheels, which helps distribute the rover’s weight and improve traction on loose or rocky surfaces.
With the core structure of the suspension system taking shape, the design is finally starting to resemble a true rocker bogie setup. It’s been satisfying to see the parts align and visualize how they’ll function together on the physical build.
